Daredevil was the first series to be released on the Netflix corner of the MCU. Since its release, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the Punisher have all received a solo show. Furthermore, last year also saw the release of a Defenders season.
While nobody (including the cast) is certain about a second season of Defenders, all the superheroes above starred (or will star, in the case of Iron Fist) in a second season of their solo shows.
Daredevil is the exception. After being presumed dead at the end of Defenders, the Man Without Fear will return! The third season of the show has already been shot. Now all that we need is an official announcement of the release date.
And this official announcement hasn't been issues. However, we have the next best thing!
At the end of Netflix's Q2 earnings video, the company's CEO Ted Sarandos let it slip when Daredevil season 3 will arrive. In this way, we have found out that Matt Murdock will return this year!
“In the short term, we’ve got new seasons coming up, in the second half of this year, of Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, the follow-up series to Making a Murderer.” (via CBM)
And this is quite a surprising news! This year has also seen the release of Jessica Jones 2 and Luke Cage 2, with Iron Fist set to become available to stream on the 7th of September. And this will mean that Daredevil will be the 4th Marvel series to be released on the streaming giant.
This also means that, for next year, the fans will get to see only the Punisher in action.
The first season of Daredevil changed the way superhero TV shows are seen. The second was a complete blast, even if just in its first half, when the Punisher was introduced.
It remains to be seen what cast is announced for Daredevil's third season and who the main antagonist will be.
We are also betting on Wilson Fisk"¦
