When Marvel's Luke Cage premieres tomorrow on Netflix, we will be introduced to a number of new characters from Harlem, one of whom is Simone Missick's Misty Knight. As far as the critics are concerned, this Harlem police detective steals the show, just like Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, does in Marvel's Daredevil Season Two.
Whether Misty Knight, like The Punisher, will get her standalone Netflix series remains to be seen, but we can at least be sure about seeing her again next year. No, I am not talking about Jeph Loeb's statement indicating that the character will appear in Marvel's Iron Fist - it has already been clarified that the Marvel TV head mistakenly referred to Iron Fist instead of Luke Cage.
What I am referring to is what Simone Missick said in a recent interview with The Wrap. According to the actress, she will be back in next year's eagerly-awaited crossover miniseries, Marvel's The Defenders:
I believe I'm safe to say that I will be on The Defenders. Spoiler alert! If I lose my job because of this interview, sorry! I was supposed to be on The Defenders, until I got fired.
While we know that Marvel doesn't like actors letting the cat out of the bag, we can still expect Missick to keep her job, as Elden Henson, who plays Foggy Nelson in Daredevil, and Eka Darville, who plays Malcolm Ducasse in Jessica Jones, have already confirmed their appearances in The Defenders.
And in a series in which Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are set to team up, appearances from characters with connections to them aren't that big a surprise. Missick might have been summoned by Marvel's legal team if she said she would have a very important role in that series or something like that.
