Confirmed: Kevin Feige To Oversee X-Men Franchise After Disney/Fox Merger!

Disney CEO confirms that Kevin Feige will be taking charge of the X-Men franchise after Disney/Fox deal!

Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios will be taking over the X-Men franchise once The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox has been completed. We were pretty sure about this but the Mouse House head-honcho has now eliminated any possible doubt.

It may have taken a while for the Disney/Fox deal to earn the approval of the shareholders and some major regulatory bodies, but fans approved of it when it was nothing more than a rumor. The key reason why most fans were rooting for it is that it would allow the integration of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But with Fox's plans for their portion of Marvel Comics characters seemingly unaffected by the inevitable merger, some were worried whether Disney actually intends to keep the mutants under a separate leadership in the future. However, such doubts should be cast aside now as Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that it will be Marvel President Kevin Feige in charge of those properties as well.

During a recent interview, The Hollywood Reporter asks Iger whether Feige would be overseeing the X-Men franchise after the Disney/Fox merger. Here's how the Mouse House boss responds:

I think it only makes sense. I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.

THR further asks if that means Deadpool could become an Avenger. In response, Iger suggests:

Kevin’s got a lot of ideas. I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?

Of course, it's a relief to know that Feige will be the one in control of the Fox-owned Marvel characters. That seems to be the only way that our dream seeing the mutants and the Earth's Mightiest Heroes team up on big-screen comes true.
