New Spider-Man & Wolverine Crossover Announced By Marvel

Spider-Man & Wolverine - Marvel Comics

The webslinger is teaming up with Weapon X. Marvel has announced a new series titled Spider-Man & Wolverine. As the title implies, Peter Parker will be mixing it up with the fan-favorite member of the X-Men. Coming in May, the series is written by Marc Guggenheim (Wolverine vs. Blade) and with art by Kaare Andrews (Rogue: The Savage Land).

“Spider-Man and Wolverine are probably my two favorite Marvel characters to write and among my favorites in all of comics,” Guggenheim said to Polygon. “I wrote Peter and Logan very early in my career, so I’m particularly excited about returning to them with a great deal more of experience and skill to lend to the endeavor. Kaare Andrews and I are determined to deliver a comic book blockbuster every month, with action that never stops.”

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man & Wolverine.

“Did you hear that? That sound can only mean one thing: two of your favorite Marvel heroes doing what they do best! With great power, there must also come… the best there is! Spider-Man & Wolverine team up for their biggest adventure together yet! Who or what is targeting this unlikely duo, and what can they do to stop it?

Get ready for a nonstop thrill ride of big villains, bigger threats and even bigger surprises as Logan and Peter Parker find themselves up against the machinations of a plot too big for just one hero…”

This is just part of what’s going on with these characters. It’s a small piece of the larger puzzle that is Marvel Comics continuity. Peter Parker is getting ready to face off against a new villain in The Amazing Spider-Man, for one. Meanwhile, Wolverine is at the center of several different books as part of Marvel’s recent revamp of the X-Men line.

Marvel Comics also recently relaunched the Ultimate line, which they’re investing a lot of resources in. That includes Ultimate Wolverine, which puts a major twist on Logan. But both of these storied heroes are taking time out of their busy schedules for what figures to be a hotly anticipated team up.

“Spider-Man and Wolverine have always attracted the best artists in comics and I’m pulling from all of them,” Andrews added. “But honestly, it’s not just about individual artists—it’s about the era that shaped me. The late ‘80s and early ‘90s comics were a huge influence, and that’s where I first fell in love with the medium.”

Spider-Man & Wolverine #1 hits shelves on May 7.
