San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC): Todd McFarlane Reveals Upcoming Spawn Comic Series

At San Diego Comic-Con, Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, shares his ambitious plans to expand his vast universe.

With a successful career spanning over three decades in comics, Todd McFarlane has made a name for himself with iconic characters like Venom, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. As the founder of Image Comics, known for its creator-owned titles, he has left a significant mark on the industry. At his SDCC spotlight panel, McFarlane thrilled fans by announcing his plans to expand the unique and fear-inspired Spawn Universe, a world influenced by his personal experiences and family.

In front of an enthusiastic crowd of fans, McFarlane excitedly announced his collaboration with Szymon Kudranski on two new Spawn series. The first, titled “Sam & Twitch,” will center around the NYPD detectives Sam Burke and Twitch Williams. On the other hand, “Misery” will explore the journey of a girl with psychic abilities, using them to confront evil entities. McFarlane described “Sam & Twitch” as the most down-to-earth series in the Spawn universe, while “Misery” will delve deep into the emotional complexities of its protagonist’s extraordinary powers.

Gunslinger Spawn is Receiving Another Series

Exciting news for fans as Gunslinger Spawn, a beloved character, is set to star in a new series penned by Jimmy Palmiotti. The upcoming comic will delve into his Civil War days, offering a fresh perspective on this intriguing character. In addition, John Layman is crafting a sequel to the popular “Spawn Kills Everyone!” comic, aptly named “Spawn Kills Every Spawn,” with stunning art by Rob Duenas. The sequel’s art will be influenced by the distinctive style of renowned artists like Skottie Young, known for their work on Spider-Man and Deadpool. Not stopping there, Daniel Henriques and Jonathan Glapion are collaborating on “No Home Here,” a comic inspired by the events of Spawn #5. This gripping tale will follow one of supervillain Billy Kincaid’s victims as she navigates a dark and unforgiving world, striving to survive in the face of adversity.

Finally, an exciting collaboration between writer David Dastmalchian and artist Fede Mele is on the horizon, bringing fans the thrilling “Knights VS Samurai.” This compelling story will revolve around two opposing teams of warriors exploring their lives both on and off the battlefield. During McFarlane’s spotlight panel, Dastmalchian expressed his long-standing admiration for Spawn, especially the beloved characters Detectives Sam and Twitch, showcasing his genuine passion for the franchise.
