Black Panther – New Detailed Look & Loads of Details!

Black Panther

Just a week ago we got our first look at Black Panther in the first trailer of Captain America: Civil War. The first black superhero of mainstream comics was seen chasing and spin-kicking Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier in the trailer. Now, along with loads of details on Black Panther, we have a new still that offers a closer and far more detailed look at the character's costume! All of that comes officially from Entertainment Weekly's latest Civil War themed issue.

Those familiar with the comics would know that the superhero's costume is very different from those of other superheroes in the Marvel Universe. It isn't actually cloth but a weave of VIBRANIUM – the strongest metal in the fictional universe. According to one of the directors of Civil War, Anthony Russo:

"It's like medieval chain mail, woven extremely thin. It's not comparable to any other costumes in the universe.

Even those who aren't aware of the comics but of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies are familiar with vibranium. Captain America's shield is made of this metal. But if you haven't watched Captain America: The First Avengers, here's something to help you on the metal from the Black Panther cast Chadwick Boseman:

"It's not just about being durable, it has the ability to absorb energy. It's not just like you hit it and it doesn't take it. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person and repel or respond to that attack.

MCU's Black Panther is Younger, More Fiery & Fallible!

Black Panther - nope, he won't be seen during the Age of Ultron
Black Panther in MCU isn’t the same as in the comics!

Black Panther was created almost 40 years ago but the superhero will make his debut on live-action big screen with next year's Captain America: Civil War. The MCU characters haven't stayed true to comics in numerous occasions - so, will that be the case for Black Panther as well? According to the executive producer of Civil War, Nate Moore, changes have indeed been brought! He isn't the VERY WISE and SANGUINE T'Challa from the comic books! Moore explained:

"I think this is Black Panther in his younger years, where he maybe is a little bit more fiery than I think how they write him in the comics because he's very much in the nascent stages of being a hero.

The executive producer went on to say that Chadwick's version of the character is "˜probably more fallible' than the original but for "˜completely logical' reasons!

His Fighting Style is a Unique Amalgam of Animal Forms!

Black Panther vs. Winter Soldier
Black Panther’s got some cool moves!

As mentioned before, the suit itself is a part of Black Panther's power. However, the Prince of Wakanda has got some skilled moves - we had a few glimpses of that in the trailer. Well, Chadwick Boseman has also elucidated on the fighting style of the superhero. It's an amalgam of moves but very unique. He stated:

"There are some animal forms, but not just cat. He could be a snake, or various different styles.

He also stressed upon the scope of doing "˜some CAPOEIRA' - a Brazilian form of martial art that combines FIGHTING WITH DANCE!

There's also the psychological side of his combat tactics that add to his power. The actor explained:

"The key with T'Challa is to keep everybody on their toes. It's to do the thing that is surprising, that you wouldn't expect.

Chadwick refused to call his character "˜a ninja' but did admit that he uses some of those aspects too!

On the next page - Black Panther's allegiance in Civil War is REALLY COMPLICATED!

Black Panther hasn't made up His Mind on his Allegiance!

Team Iron Man
He isn’t completely a Team Iron Man member!

We have seen the set of promo art that revealed the allegiance of superheroes in Civil War and we've also watched the trailer. From those, it is pretty much assumable that Black Panther will be standing next to Iron Man in Civil War. But Nate Moore claims that the character is "˜the undecided voter'! He said:

"He's someone who hasn't necessarily made up his mind about either side and whose agenda isn't exactly what Cap's agenda or what Tony's agenda is. And I think that brings him into conflict weirdly with both characters at different times in the film.

And Moore isn't the only one who thinks that way. Claiming that they haven't given Black Panther an introductory cameo in Civil War but made him "˜a full character', Marvel President Kevin Feige stated:

"He has his own conflict and his own people that he's looking out for.

Black Panther
He has his own agenda!

Meanwhile, Chadwick Boseman indicates that such is the case for all the characters. He explained:

"Ultimately some sides are taken, but I think the trick of the movie is for no one to be blindly following. Everybody is actually on their own side, in truth.

Well, to be honest, the trailer does indicate, at least to some extent, there's truth behind the Black Panther actor's words.
