Black Adam: The Rock Promises Surprising DCEU Debut

While promoting Baywatch (which looks to be a typical, but highly enjoyable, summer action movie/comedy), Dwayne The Rock Johnson was asked about his involvement in the DC Extended Universe, and he didn't hesitate to hype Black Adam. Sure, some fans might disagree with the wrestler-turned-actor’s vision for the supervillain, but Warner Bros. scored big by co-opting him. Johnson, aka Franchise Viagra, knows how to promote a project, and attracts huge audiences.

Johnson reiterated that fans wouldn't have to wait until 2019 (when Shazam arrives) to see him as Black Adam (some expect the Black Adam solo film to arrive earlier). However, he added that DC fans will be surprised when they first see him.

It's definitely going to happen, sure. We've had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It's an exciting time right now for everyone at DC, because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can't reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced (via Screen Rant).

Johnson has teased a confrontation between Black Adam and Superman on a couple of occasions, so can we assume that he'll cameo in this year's Justice League? Right now, this is the hottest rumor online, but it wouldn't make sense, since the Justice League will already have their hands full with Steppenwolf and his Parademons. Zack Snyder isn't known for avoiding unnecessary cameos, but still…

Black Adam could appear in Aquaman, as well, but it also makes sense that he might be referenced in Wonder Woman.

What do you think? What did Johnson mean?
