Avengers Characters - From Not So Good to Best

They're there, all of them

Here is something interesting: did you know that Captain America had more screen time than Iron Man in Avengers: Age of Ultron? Well, he had an almost full 5 minutes ahead of him! Which makes us wonder - are they giving each actor screen time based on how good their other performances were in previous Marvel movies?

Because Thor has about 14 minutes during Avengers: Age of Ultron, topping only Vision (who appeared only in the grand finale). So who are the best Avengers characters, from the not so best to the top?

Thor

The Mighty Thor

The Mighty Thor

Well, this is actually a no brainer, since Thor's franchise is considered to be the lowest point of the whole MCU, barely covering its budgets on the USA market.

But the sales aren't what interests us. What is more of concern is the stories from the films. And while the first Thor gave (arguably) the best villain of the whole MCU, the convoluted plots of both films has left us speechless.

Obviously, they weren't made just to keep the viewer entertained just for a bit until the Avengers films arrived. Still, the God of Thunder is yet to prove his worth - maybe during Thor: Ragnarok, who would better be the Phase III version of the Winter Soldier.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye, the Master Archer

If it wasn't for Avengers: Age of Ultron, he would have been the worst MCU Avengers. But this character gained new depths during this year's blockbuster and actually clarified his special relationship with Black Widow - you won't see such a great friendship in real life, though.

So Hawkeye, even if he didn't have a solo film, ranks better than the mighty Thor. And we believe that his character will become even more complete during Phase III - mainly because he seems overall more interesting than just some guy who, basically, cannot be harmed. It is his weakness which makes him more appealing.

Black Widow

Black Widow, the Super Spy

While she was the only female character of the team, Black Widow proved her worth and then some during both Iron Man 2 and the first Avengers film. A woman that can extract any kind of information from an enemy using her skills and what can be perceived as an innate weaknesses of the gender can only be a strong character.

We would have expected more of her, though, since she was actually among the first to be an Avenger, even before Iron Man.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch, the Miracle

Come one, she was awesome in Avengers: Age of Ultron, being one of the major highlights of the movie. We still don't know too much about her, but her appearance in next year's Civil War will surely make her character even more rotund.

And yes, we like her especially because of Elizabeth Olsen's portrayal, who captured perfectly her awesome power, her malevolence, and her ultimate despair.

And yes, she is an Avenger, unlike her dead brother Quicksilver.

Vision

Vision, the Android

Vision, the Android

You should have expected this - his awakening, his worthiness, his awesome power, everything was played to perfection. And this makes us wonder why Marvel doesn't have a solo film scheduled for him too.

Also, the fact that he is just discovering the world with new eyes makes him even more interesting. And we are just wondering where things could lead between him and Scarlet Witch"¦

Iron Man

While the first Iron Man film opened the MCU in a grandiose way and can be said to be one of the best superhero movies ever, the sequels were pretty disappointing. Quickly, name the villain of Iron Man 2!

See what we meant?

Furthermore, while Robert Downey Jr. is an awesome actor, one can actually get tired of his monotonous way of portraying the character. Still, he is indispensable for the whole Avengers team, which cannot be said about the next character.

The Hulk

Hulk, the Mindless Beast

Hulk, the Mindless Beast

Yes, he is dispensable - as seen in this year's film, he was the last resort and, basically, responsible for the way the Avengers are seen by the world. His rage destroyed a small city (or thereabout), after all.

Still, while his solo film in the MCU had no continuation, what can we say other than this: Hulk smash! Mark Ruffalo brought a much needed dorkiness to the character, while the CGI looks better than ever.

It is no wonder that he ranks so high in the fans' preferences.

Captain America - the first of the Avengers

Sure enough, after Captain America: The First Avenger and the first outing of the whole team, he was nobody's favorite. However, it all changed with the Winter Soldier events, when we got an in-depth analysis of the character.

And he is willing to make no compromises when it comes to the freedoms of the people. Sure enough, Tony Stark also has a clear set of principles. However, unlike Steve Rogers, he has a more volatile personality, which makes him less trustworthy.

And when you are in the Avengers team, this sure counts a lot!

Plus, we cannot get over the portrayal from Iron Man 3 - come on, do they really want to make us believe that he has panic attacks when someone mentions some battles he fought? The dude became unbelievable from that point onward!

Special Mention

Falcon and War Machine - Who?!?

Falcon and War Machine – Who?!?

Well, there is none, since Falcon and War Machine are, basically, versions of Iron Man. Two guys with some suits. That is all.
