Ant-Man 2 Shooting Wraps, and We Learn More About Janet van Dyne!

It wasn’t the most successful of the Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks, but Ant-Man attracted a big enough audience for the studio to greenlight a sequel. Titled Ant-Man and the Wasp, it will also introduce the character the Wasp, who was barely teased in the first film.

Director Peyton Reed (Ant-Man) recently tweeted that the film's production has come to a close:

Keeping a movie's plot a secret is a Marvel tradition, and this one is no exception. We do know that Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) will appear for the first time in the Wasp suit; Hannah John-Kamen will play the traditional Iron Man villain Ghost; and Laurence Fishburne will portray Goliath.

Michelle Pfeiffer is set to return as Janet van Dyne after contributing a cameo to the first movie as the original Wasp. In her flashback scene, she sacrificed herself by going subatomic in order to diffuse a nuclear missile.

The character has been lost in the Quantum Realm, where it's said that time is irrelevant. However, the latest on-set pics imply otherwise. Click here to see a silver-haired Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet, who aged a bit in spite of being trapped in the Quantum Realm.

The images also seem to suggest that Ant-Man and the Wasp will end happily for both van Dyne and Hank Pym. This will be nice to see, since Janet was a founding member of the Avengers in the comics, and her death would be a great disservice.

Scheduled for a July 6, 2018 release, Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the first film to follow Avengers: Infinity War.
