Blade in the MCU – It Can Work”¦

Blade

The first big news from this year's San Diego Comic Con concerned Blade and came from Wesley Snipes. The actor revealed that he has talked with Marvel about resurrecting the character, whose last film (Blade: Trinity) was more than disappointing.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that the character will appear in the MCU, a show on Netflix having the most chances to happen. And that is because, well, this character fights vampires and not sparkling vegetarian vampires. Netflix is the perfect medium on which the character can be developed.

However, maybe - just maybe - there is a chance for Blade to appear in the MCU. Sure enough, Wesley Snipes is a bit too old now and he may be replaced. But"¦

Well, here is how it can all go down!

Doctor Strange and Blade

Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange

Sure enough, we already have a pretty good idea as to what the first Doctor Strange film present - an origin story, with Baron Mordo most probably serving as a soldier of Dormammu. However, maybe this isn't the case - or maybe a future Doctor Strange movie could introduce Blade.

Blade has been an ally of the sorcerer, helping him in his fight against the Darkholders. During a particular storyline, the two (alongside with some other allies) managed to destroy (temporarily) all the vampires in the world, by using the Montesi Formula.

So this is one possibility in which Blade could appear in the MCU - not now, but maybe later on (in this case, in the MCU's Phase IV).

On the next page, being a part of a larger organization.

Blade and SHIELD

Another way in which Blade could join the MCU is if he was sought by SHIELD and the Avengers. The reason for this to happen is pretty simple - just like in the comics, the humans would want to make a serum which gives them superhuman abilities. Blade could be the one to provide them with the raw material - his own blood.

In this way, the MCU would open itself not just for this particular anti-hero, but for other characters as well, all of whom would work together in order to stop a bigger threat.

On the next page, a team-up.

Blade and the Midnight Sons

This is most-likely to happen - but on Netflix, in a similar way as it is happening for the Defenders. The rumor is that Marvel has already started planning with Netflix for a couple of solo series, for characters such as Blade and Ghost Rider, all of which will form together into a Midnight Sons special, in which several superheroes/antiheroes fight against demonic powers.

But, sure enough, this could also work in the MCU, as a feature film. It will be like a dark Guardians of the Galaxy, taking place on Earth, with street-level heroes.

Lastly, what we all want.

Blade vs. Morbius

Morbius
Morbius

Kevin Feige revealed that Marvel will focus, during the first Spider-Man film, on villains which weren't seen before on the silver screens. Morbius can be one of those villains - of course, Blade's backstory will also be rewritten, since in the comics he is bitten by Morbius and thus gains his powers.

But yes - this is the best way for Blade to enter the MCU: as a supporting character for Spider-Man. If it will be so, the vampires will also be introduced, thus opening the door for all the other opportunities mentioned before.

So if there is just the slightest possibility, then this would be it.
