Comic Con 2015 - Most Popular Movies

Ant-Man's buddies

Comic Con 2015 came and went. And with it we've had plenty of superhero stuff - and not only. There are other high-profile movies from other genres being released this year and the buzz around them can only become stronger.

According to data gathered on the internet (mainly on Twitter, of course), a classification of the most talked about movies has been made. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide SquadX-Men: Apocalypse - which ones were the most talked about on Twitter during Comic Con 2015?

You'll be surprised to find out that it wasn't Star Wars, just like it wasn't Batman v Superman.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II

Mockingjay Part II

Mockingjay Part II

The Hunger Games: Mockingly Part II was the most talked about movie during Comic Con 2015. And it wasn't just because of Jennifer Lawrence's star power (who, as you know, is also Mystique in the X-Men series and who also expressed her desire to play in even more X-Men films after next year's Apocalypse).

Mockingjay Part II will arrive on the 20th of November this year. Rest assured, though - even if this isn't exactly the perfect date to release blockbusters, the fans have flocked to the previous installments as well. The movies in this series have already gathered $2.3 billion at the worldwide box-office, with Catching Fire being the highest-grossing one ($864 million worldwide).

We mentioned Jennifer Lawrence's star power - well, during Comic Con 2015, she was the most talked about celebrity on Twitter. So that has to count for something.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Wonder Woman's power

Wonder Woman’s power

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was just one of the Warner Bros movies present at Comic Con 2015. It saw the release of the first full trailer, with about 30 million views in a couple of days on Warner Bros’s YouTube channel, as well as almost the entire main cast on stage.

It is worth mentioning the Jesse Eisenberg (who plays Lex Luthor) also caused some stir, thus adding to the numbers. In just a few words, he compared Comic Con 2015 (which marked his first presence at such an event) as being similar to genocide. It's something we would have expected from Lex Luthor, and not from the actor portraying him.

In any way, if Mockingjay was the most talked about during Comic Con 2015, it lost steam afterwards. And that is because Batman v Superman saw the release of the first trailer.

On the third place, the movie we expected to be on the first place.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the other giant movie to be released this year and was present at Comic Con 2015. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on the 18th of December, so there is still time for the movie to generate more buzz.

And it will do so, since the marketing campaign hasn't even started. It is expected for a new trailer to be released in August, when a particular convention will happen and when probably more details about the film will be released.

But Comic Con 2015 also saw behind the scenes footage for the movie, as well as new details about the characters. Thus, for example, it was confirmed that Domhnall Gleeson will indeed portray a general (Hux, to be more specific) apparently working for the Empire. Apparently.

On the next page, the 4th talked about movie of Comic Con 2015!

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

Was there any doubt it will be on this list? No, it wasn't. The first footage from the film was revealed at Comic Con 2015 and was received very well by the fans. It was revealed so well that they even leaked it online, filmed with phones.

Obviously, this has prompted an immediate reaction from the studio, with the execs even saying that they won't release it online in HD and that they are considering not showing anything at all at future conventions.

But all is well when it ends well - David Ayer released the footage online the next day, with the response being more than positive.

Still, some complain about the new Joker, which is only natural. But, in just one day, the Suicide Squad teaser was viewed by more than 21 million times. Which is a lot.

You won't guess which was the fifth talked about movie. Find out on the next page!

Justice League

We are also puzzled. Don't ask us how, don't ask us why - but Justice League (which is more than 2 years away from being released) was the most talked about movie at Comic Con 2015.

The Batman v Superman trailer, which featured Wonder Woman and probably Aquaman too, must have helped a lot. But still - Justice League Part One is the last on this list.

DC - the winner of Comic Con 2015

In the absence of Marvel, there was only one comic book studio which could have one - and that is the other one. Seeing that DC and Warner Bros have 3 movies out of 5 being the most talked about sure means something.

With all its flaws, the newly born DC Movie Universe still sparks a lot of interest. And this is a good thing, as far as the fans are concerned. As said in another article, the competition can only do good.

To our surprise, the X-Men films are not present, even though next year will see the release of 3 such movies. Even more, we've had quite a few reveals at Comic Con 2015, with the storyline for the last Wolverine film being revealed, with the Horsemen of Apocalypse also revealed, a first look at the main villain, as well as the first footage for X-Men: Apocalypse.
