Taron Egerton grabbed the attention of the large public following his performance in Kingsman: The Secret Service. Undeniably, Kingsman benefited Egerton with considerable momentum for his career.
Taron Egerton was previously rumored for a role in X-Men: Apocalypse. The word went he was eyed for the role of young Scott Summers (Cyclops), but they eventually locked Tye Sheridan in for the part.
But this doesn't mean the X-Men universe is off the table for Egerton. In an interview with Screen Rant, young Egerton spilled the beans about one of the hottest topics in the superhero movie industry.
And it's related to Hugh Jackman's last act as Wolverine. The obvious question, to which Taron Egerton has an answer - though not THE answer - is: who will they choose to fill Hugh Jackman's shoes?
Taron Egerton would "love to have a go at it"
Great admirer of the Australian actor - along whom he stars in Eddie the Eagle - and of the X-Men franchise, Taron Egerton says he was present when Jackman declared his intention of leaving his Wolverine days behind.
"I was with Hugh the day that he announced his retirement from that role. I did joke about that very thing with him". Well, what thing?
If offered the opportunity, Egerton would be willing to try. "I am a huge X-Men fan! ["¦].Yeah, I'd love to have a go at it, but I don't know. [Laughs] I don't know."
Is there some insecurity in Egerton's words? Well, it's hard to pick up from where Jackman left Wolverine, even if someone like the Kingsman star would have to portray a younger adamantium skeleton beast.
Basically, a version of Wolverine from before the age Jackman started to develop. So what makes Egerton hesitate?
"My feeling about that is"¦ I don't know if I'm quite grizzly enough. My facial hair is still very thin and patchy. I feel someone who plays Wolverine potentially needs testosterone in abundance. ["¦] But the phone hasn't rang yet, my friend, so I don't know."
Luckily, what Taron Egerton lacks in grizzly-ness and facial hair makes up in talent. So is it that farfetched an idea that we'll get to see him as the new - and younger - Wolverine?
