Disney/Fox Merger – The Properties Now Owned by the Mouse House - Daily Superheroes - Your daily dose of Superheroes news

Disney/Fox Merger – The Properties Now Owned by the Mouse House

After the deal with Disney, a new entity was created, called New Fox. Including news, sports, and broadcast business channels, New Fox will be the only asset that isn't included in this deal. Other than these (including the 20th Century Fox film and television studios), everything else goes to the Mouse House.

But what does that mean?

The Disney – Fox merger (Comic Book)

First and foremost, as far as comic book movie fans are concerned, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four (together with all their characters) can now join the MCU. And this is great news for most of the fans. However, a question mark is now raised over the future of these franchises as we know them.

And, in particular, we are talking about the more adult-oriented series, such as Deadpool and X-Force. Given the PG ratings of the MCU, the fans are now entitled to believe that Disney will try to water down these properties.

The Simpsons (IMDB)

The Simpsons is another property Disney now owns. Spanning over almost 3 decades, the animated series is a multi-billion dollar title that is now being transferred. Other animated series also include Seth McFarlane's Family Guy and American Dad!, as well as Bob's Burgers and King of the Hill.

Disney now also owns Blue Sky Studios, which has produced hits like the Ice Age franchise, Rio, Horton Hears a Who, and Ferdinand.

As far as indie films are concerned, the Mouse House now owns Fox Searchlight Pictures, which produced Best Picture winners Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, and The Shape of Water, as well as Academy Award-nominees Sideways, Little Miss Sunshine, Black Swan, 127 Hours, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Brooklyn, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Avatar (IMDB)

But it isn't just about studios in here. Long-running franchises such as Alien and Predator were also included in the deal. And while there is no word about a new Alien film, Predator will see a new instalment released this year.

The Planet of the Apes franchise has now switched homes as well. The last three instalments weren't just praised by the critics, but they were also box office hits.

The Avatar franchise (which will see the release of 4 more sequels until 2025) is now owned by Disney. Given the fact that the first movie made $2,788 billion worldwide, as well as the potential the rest of the movies have, Disney will dominate the movie industry even more than until now.

Lastly, there are also the movies and series everybody loves: The Sound of Music and Home Alone are just two of movies, while X-Files and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are two of the series.

Besides these, Disney now also owns the Fox Networks Group and has stakes in Hulu, Sky, and National Geographic Partners.

Home Alone (IMDB)

So, basically, the fact that the X-Men and Fantastic Four are returning to Marvel Studios is just the cherry on top for Disney!
