There’s One More Movie on Henry Cavill’s DCEU Contract

With his debut as Clark Kent/Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, Henry Cavill became the DC Extended Universe’s first star. In 2016, the actor appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and this year's Justice League marks his third appearance in the shared universe.

Although it was said that Warner Bros. had made the Man of Steel sequel a priority, producer Charles Roven revealed during the Justice League marketing campaign that there’s still no script. So what does the future have in store for Cavill and his character?

During an interview with the LA Times, Henry Cavill revealed that one movie remains on his contract, and he’s set to portray Superman one more time. The actor also expressed his desire to have the movie show Superman’s full colors, tell a character-driven story, and create a wonderful sensation of hope and happiness.

Many fans feel that Superman should have been this way all along. But maybe it was always Zack Snyder's plan to present Kal-El as a symbol of hope in a three-movie arc.

And Justice League has received praise for showing this side of the character.

Cavill’s contract may call for one more movie, but there’s no guarantee that it will be this particular movie. With the exception of Wonder Woman, every DCEU movie has caused controversy, and most have been battered by the critics. This has taken a toll, and now Justice League has opened to disappointing numbers at the US box office.

It will be hard for the bosses at Warner Bros. to justify greenlighting a sequel or a Superman solo flick if Justice League doesn't turn a considerable profit.

Aquaman is scheduled for release on December 21, 2018, and we’re sure that Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 2 will also see the light of day in the same year. But what happens after that remains a mystery.
