Justice League: Original Credits Scene Included Green Lanterns

Justice League’s first weekend failed to meet expectations, bringing in just $96 million. Of course, for any other movie, that would be a respectable number. But the movie reportedly cost over $300 million to make, and word of mouth isn't working in the movie’s favor.

There are several reasons for that, including the way the film was cut, its brevity, and the dodgy CGI. It’s  definitely fun, but it didn’t live up to fans’ expectations.

Although a sequel is an uncertain proposition right now, the movie did lay some groundwork for future DC Extended Universe movies. New Gods were mentioned, the Olympian Gods revealed their might, and more. Most importantly, a credits scene teased the Injustice League. It remains to be seen whether future movies will expand on Justice League’s Easter eggs and teases.

According to the most recent reveals, the credits scene the audience saw was actually supposed to be different. Comic Book Resources, citing a visual effects artist who worked on Wonder Woman, reported that the original tease would have included two fan-favorite Green Lanterns, Tomar-Re and Kilowog. The pair would enter Bruce Wayne’s lake house and wake him.

It’s likely that the scene would have helped set up the Green Lantern Corps, or at least address the issue of the Corps’ failure to intervene when Steppenwolf made his second attempt to conquer Earth. Also, it probably would have set up the introduction of the first Earth-based Green Lantern.

But it’s just speculation, since the credits scene was cut early in post-production. But maybe the scene will be included in the Justice League Blu-ray!
