The Marvel Cinematic Universe has an impressive track record at the Chinese box office, with each of the last six movies bringing in more than $100 million there. With that in mind, Marvel Studios recently released a special new Thor: Ragnarok trailer for the fans in China.
The Chinese trailer is quite similar to the one released last month in Japan, but it does feature some new footage. For instance, there are a few shots of a fight between Chris Hemsworth's titular superhero and Cate Blanchett's Hela. We assume that the shots are from Thor: Ragnarok’s first act, as the God of Thunder still has his long locks. Also, since Mjolnir is still intact, the scene must take place before the Goddess of Death shatters it.
The trailer also contains some blink-and-you-miss-it shots, including one of the fire demon Surtur and another of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) battling against Hela. It also features some new dialogue.
Here are the new trailer, poster, and behind-the-scenes video!
In addition to all of that, we have a new still that confirms that Hogun (Tadanobu Asano) will return in Thor: Ragnarok. In the photo, which is likely a still from the scene depicting Hela’s arrival, Hogun has a band of Asgardian soldiers at his back. Check it out below (via ComicBookMovie)!
Some time ago, we were told that we’d learn the fate of Lady Sif and the Warriors Three in the Taika Waititi-directed movie, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Since Asano's character has finally surfaced, it feels safe to assume that we’ll also see Ray Stevenson's Volstagg, Zachary Levi's Fandral, and Jaimie Alexander's Sif in Ragnarok, though it may be for just a few shots before Hela wreaks havoc upon Asgard.
