You might be thinking that Captain Marvel will be the female-led superhero movie to follow Wonder Woman. But you’d be wrong! Sony Pictures’ Silver and Black is set to hit the theaters a month ahead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe installment.
According to Variety, the Spider-Man spin-off about Marvel Comics’ Silver Sable and Black Cat will be released on February 8, 2019. Captain Marvel, the MCU’s first female superhero movie, is set to arrive on March 8, 2019.
At this moment, Silver and Black shares its release date with just one movie: the Warner Bros. romantic comedy Isn't It Romantic, which isn't likely to offer much competition. But The Lego Movie Sequel is set for the week before, and Universal Pictures' Bride of Frankenstein and an untitled Marvel movie from 20th Century Fox the week following. Fox scheduled it around nine months ago, so it's unclear whether that date is still valid.
Last week, we learned that Riz Ahmed (Rogue One and Jason Bourne) had been in talks to join Venom, another Sony Spider-Man spin-off. Jeff Sneider of Tracking Board hinted in a report that the actor could be up for the role of The Chameleon in the Ruben Fleischer flick. Later, the film reporter tweeted that he'd heard that Ahmed's character could show up in Silver and Black.
Since I slipped the word “chameleon” into my Riz Ahmed/Venom story, I’ve heard the character could very well show up…in SILVER AND BLACK!

Sneider added that he’d heard that Tombstone and The Tarantula would also appear in the Gina Prince-Bythewood flick. This isn't a surprise, as a previous report mentioned that the two might appear, along with The Chameleon and a couple of other supervillains.
Have also heard TOMBSTONE and TARANTULA for SILVER AND BLACK. I don’t know much about those Marvel villains, but they sound interesting…
