While fans have been longing for a crossover between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the X-Men Universe, the studios haven't seemed interested enough to make that happen. However, at times we’ve heard people on both sides express their desire to see the two universes unite. The most recent addition to the list is Jennifer Lawrence, who has played Mystique in three different X-Men movies.
In an interview with MTV, the actress made it clear that she is interested in playing the mutant in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. She claimed that she would prefer that over reprising Mystique in another X-Men movie! Asked whether she would want to team up with James Gunn's band of extraterrestrial anti-heroes, Lawrence responded:
Oh my god, I would love to. I would choose that over doing another X-Men movie, maybe. I won't be Mystique in the X-Men movies, but I would love to be Mystique in the Guardians of the Galaxy. I wonder if that can happen.
Since her Passengers co-star Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, was sitting right next to her during the interview, there might be a little exaggeration in Lawrence's statement. But, of course, it seems like she has yet again changed her mind about returning as Mystique in an X-Men movie.
While she had previously said that X-Men: Apocalypse was her "last one", she later said that she would "love to come back" if Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult also decided to return. According to an early-November report, 20th Century Fox is planning a soft reboot of the mainstream X-Men movies, but they do want to bring back Lawrence and the other three. So, they might not like Lawrence’s recent remarks. Check out the interview clip below!
