A few days ago, we came across a report that suggested that The Flash Season 3 was looking for an actress to play a gender-swapped version of Roscoe Dillon, aka the Top. Now, we have confirmation from E! News that in the upcoming season of the CW series, the Top will indeed be a female character named Rosalind "Rosa" Dillon.
The female supervillain will be portrayed by 24-year-old actress Ashley Rickards. Rickards is best known for playing Jenna Hamilton in the MTV series Awkward and Sam Walker in the CW series One Tree Hill. Her big-screen credits include Fly Away, Sassy Pants, At the Devil's Door, and Behaving Badly. She has also appeared in television shows like Ugly Betty, Entourage, and American Horror Story: Murder House.
Ashley Rickards' version of The Top will retain the same metahuman abilities of her comic book counterpart"¦the ability to make people's heads spin. However, the character will share quite an intimate relationship with Grey Damon's Mirror Master. According to the outlet, the Top in The Flash Season 3 is "the Bonnie to Mirror Master's Clyde".
Like Damon's character, Rickard's character will also make her first appearance in the fourth episode. And that episode will also see the return of our favorite, Captain Cold! Executive producer Aaron Helbing says:
It’s kind of the origin of Mirror Master…We’re really excited. It’s the origin story of him, but it’s this struggle between Mirror Master and Captain Cold and you get to see who comes out on top.
They are as enthusiastic as we are about Wentworth Miller's return to The Flash. EP Todd Helbing says:
We’re excited to have Wentworth back because he always brings this amazing presence.
