The Batman to Be Set in Arkham

Ben Affleck is Batman

This has been a long running rumor that has now resurfaced: the first Batman film will be set in the Arkham Asylum. And this rumor has again appeared because of tomorrow's release of the Ultimate Cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which sees Lex Luthor sent to Arkham at the end of the movie.

But this isn't all, since there were some other hints suggesting that The Batman will take place in Arkham. One of them came from Ben Affleck himself, who said that the first Dark Knight movie from the DCEU will feature multiple villains and will draw from various comic book storylines. Furthermore, the title Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth has been the most talked about.

Of course, there is also the warehouse scene from Batman v Superman, a scene that seems pulled straight from the Arkham games series. And this should be the biggest hint of them all, since the Arkham games have revolutionized the way the fans see the Caped Crusader.

This being said, we can hardly wait for an official confirmation. It most certainly won't be a faithful adaptation of A Serious House on Serious Earth. Ben Affleck, who is also writing the script, has already said that he will take the same path Zack Snyder took, in the sense that The Batman will pull from different sources.

One more thing should be added. According to Affleck, this will also be the first time in which the Dark Knight will prove himself as the world's greatest detective. So, even if Bruce Wayne does find himself locked up with all of his greatest villains, he won't just fight his way outside. Instead, he will also have to find out who is behind his troubles.

Is it the Joker, like in the games? We surely hope so.

For the moment, there is no scheduled release date for the first Batman flick.

However, we can expect it to drop sometime in 2018.
