That was surprising - the reveal that Sylvester Stallone was cast in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II (and that is still an unconfirmed rumor). So, who could he play?
Well, there are quite a few rumors linked to his mysterious role. The first one – and the most believable, for that matter – is that the aged action hero will lend his voice to Ego the Living Planet. Apparently, this is the villain of the movie - and it makes sense, given Sylvester Stallone's unmistakable voice. To be noted, this story appeared as soon as the actor was spotted in the hotel where the Guardians of the Galaxy cast is currently checked in.
Another rumor comes from Heroic Hollywood, which reports that the Rambo star will be one of Yondu's Ravagers. This surely sounds like a cameo, doesn't it? Well, the website also reports that his character is supposed to return in the final part of the trilogy, in a more consistent role. So, although Sylvester Stallone might have just a cameo at this moment (having already shot some of his scenes, according to the website) - he will return.
It makes sense for James Gunn to pick him in a role that will pay off later on, down the road.
Another rumor says that he is none other than Star Lord's father - though he hardly looked like an angel, as opposed to Kurt Russell.
Lastly, CBM says that Sylvester Stallone was also spotted on the set, where he donned a Judge Dredd-like mask and costume. Weird? Yes it is - according to the website, the scoop was served by a rather unknowledgeable source, who mistook the Nova Corps costume with the Judge Dredd one.
It’s either that, or another Kree Accuser. What do you think?
