With Captain America: Civil War around two months away from hitting the theaters, Walt Disney co-chairman and CEO Bob Iger presented a new clip from the movie at the company's March 3 annual shareholder meeting. Thanks to the Los Angeles Times, we now have a description of the action-filled clip.
According to the report, the clip gets under way with a car chase featuring a motor cycle (later confirmed as a Harley-Davidson) and a black Audi SUV. The chase features Chris Evans' Captain America, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes and Anthony Mackie's Falcon. According to the description, the superheroes chase each other through a tunnel which becomes "engulfed in explosions generated by the skirmish".
In due course, they emerge from the tunnel, and encounter Don Cheadle as War Machine. It becomes clear from his words that he’s there to detain Steve. He angrily says:
Stand down now. Congratulations, Cap, you're a criminal.
At that point, Black Panther intervenes, "baring his metal claws and ripping off his mask to reveal his identity". And that's where the Captain America: Civil War clip ends!
Captain America: Civil War has “some of the best Marvel storytelling”!
The clip, as you would expect, earned bountiful applause from the audience. Variety reports that Bob Iger claimed that Captain America: Civil War features "some of the best Marvel storytelling to date". Well, that's something we can obviously expect from the Russo Brothers venture. Early screening reviews indicate the same.
