After the release of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, director James Gunn said quite a few times that he doesn't plan on introducing too many characters in the sequel. In this way, he plans on further developing the characters already introduced, as well as those who will be presented on-screen for the first time.
In this way, the fans did believe that only Mantis will be an addition to the roster of the Guardians of the Galaxy. But it isn't so. Geek.com, a website which brought quite a few Marvel scoops in the past weeks, reports that there will be three new heroes to join Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax. But, while we know that Mantis will surely appear, who are the other 2?
Read on - but know that there are spoilers in here!
According to this website, Yondu will be one of the new additions to the team. And this is a great thing, especially since the chemistry between him and Star Lord was one of the highlights of the first Guardians of the Galaxy. But why would he join the ragtag team of villains turned heroes?
We can suspect that, in his travels, Yondu and his Scavengers will encounter a foe they cannot defeat. Yondu ends up alone and has a reason to join the Guardians of the Galaxy (after all, the original members joined the team for their own egotistical reasons as well).
The third member to join the Guardians of the Galaxy is, according to the website, Nebula herself, the step-sister of Gamora. Last time we saw her, Nebula simply cut of her hand in order to escape her sister. Why would she join her in Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Well, we have no idea.
Of course, these rumors from Geek.com should be taken with a pinch of salt - especially since James Gunn said he won't be debunking Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II rumors any longer. What do you think?
