X-Men ‘97 Season 2 Finally Gets Release Date, Watch The Trailer Now

Wolverine in X-Men '97 season 2

Marvel fans, rejoice. X-Men ‘97 season 2 finally has a release date. Fortunately, viewers won’t have to wait much longer for the beloved animated series to return on Disney+. Marvel Studios has confirmed that the show’s sophomore season will debut on July 1. We’ve also got a new trailer and poster to help tee up what’s to come. Check it out for yourself below.

The trailer reveals that the mutants will be contending with the villain Apocalypse this time around. What’s more, the X-Men are scattered throughout various points in time, including the past and future, as well as the ‘90s. It all looks very epic and jam-packed. It looks larger in scale than the first season, with plenty of surprises in store, no doubt.

Here is the synopsis for X-Men ‘97 season 2.

“X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.”

The voice cast includes Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.

This show is technically part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which concludes with next year’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Though this show is not part of the main MCU. Rather, these events are happening elsewhere in the larger Marvel multiverse. It exists in the same continuity as the much-beloved X-Men: The Animated Series from the ‘90s.

The series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston and Beau DeMayo. Jake Castorena serves as the supervising producer. JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan and Mariah Wilson are on board as writers. Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley are the episodic directors.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is getting ready to make a live-action X-Men movie reboot. Details remain a bit scarce on that front but it’s expected to be a cornerstone of the next phase of the MCU. The Multiverse Saga has been a bit of an up and down ride. Having the X-Men anchor the next phase could help set it apart from what has transpired over the last seven years.

X-Men ‘97 premieres July 1 on Disney+.
