Heads up, DC fans! The first trailer for Peacemaker season 2 is here. DC Studios co-head James Gunn has promised for several days that our first meaningful glimpse at the show’s return would be coming today. Good to his word, here we have it. If it wasn’t clear before, it’s crystal clear now that this show is firmly part of the DC Universe reboot that is underway at Warner Bros. John Cena’s Christopher Smith has some company. There is an awful lot going on here. One of the biggest things is that Peacemaker is confronting Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord, who are going to be in Gunn’s Superman movie this summer. While the first season of the show clearly took place in the old DCEU, that’s not the case with season 2. How is that going to be explained? We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s certainly interesting to consider.
Here is the synopsis for Peacemaker season 2.
“The new season follows Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.”
The series sees many stars returning including John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee and Robert Patrick. New cast members include Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez and Tim Meadows. Frank Grillo is reprising his role as Rick Flag Sr. from Creature Commandos. He will also appear in Gunn’s Superman movie as well.
James Gunn wrote all eight episodes of PEACEMAKER and directed three, including the first episode. Gunn, Peter Safran, and John Cena serve as executive producers. Greg Mottola, Peter Sollett, and Althea Jones also direct. Based on characters from DC, PEACEMAKER is produced by Gunn’s Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Elsewhere, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is currently in production for release in 2026. The Lanterns TV show is also filming, expected to release in 2026 as well. Meanwhile, the Clayface movie just got a writer, with a fall 2026 release date on the book. Gunn and his DC Studios co-head Peter Safran are wasting no time in getting the new DCU going.
Peacemaker season 2 arrives on Max on August 21.
