PSA: The Flash Series Finale Is Now Streaming For Free Online

After nearly a decade and close to 200 adventures, Team Flash has signed off for good (probably). The Flash series finale has aired on The CW, bringing the long-running DC series to a close. Nine seasons worth of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen saving Central City, and it’s come to this. For those who may have missed the action while it aired, fear not! The series finale is now streaming for free on The CW’s website.

The episode, titled A New World Part Four, was part of an abbreviated ninth season. The CW was recently sold to Nexstar and has been winding down much of its scripted programming. As a result, the Arrowverse, in essence, ended with The Flash season 9 finale. Currently, Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights are still on the air. However, neither of those shows technically takes place in the Arrowverse. So Barry got to take it over the finish line, marking the end of an era.

Here is the synopsis for A New World Part Four.

“THE FINAL RUN – The Flash (Grant Gustin), the fastest man alive, is tasked with his greatest challenge yet, to save the timeline and save existence. Friends old and new gather for an epic battle to save Central City, one last time.”

The Flash originally premiered in 2014, picking up where Arrow started. Eventually, the shared DC universe on The CW grew to include Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Black Lightning as well. But things have been winding down in recent years. Showrunner Eric Wallace, speaking with Entertainment Weekly, has expressed a desire to see the universe continue in the future.

“I still am hopeful that the Arrowverse is not over. I’ve approached it as The Flash is over and I want to make the best Flash series finale as possible. On the other side, of course, there’s no Batwoman. There’s no Legends. There’s no Black Lightning. There’s no Arrow or Supergirl. It is very strange. All of the shows that were on Earth-Prime, they’re all going away. So what does that mean? I don’t know.”

The series finale was written by Wallace and Sam Chalsen, with Vanessa Parise in the director’s chair. The cast includes Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, Kayla Compton as Allegra Garcia, Brandon McKnight as Chester P. Runk, Jon Cor as Mark Blaine/Chillblaine and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West.
