Wolverine is the most popular big-screen X-Men mutant, and he’s always been the center of attention, even when sharing the screen with other mutants. But the X-Men movies have focused primarily on the relationship between Professor X and Magneto. The first trilogy revealed the characters' ideological differences; the prequel trilogy revealed where it all came from. It’s a complex, decades-long relationship that some fans have grown tired of.
Maybe the time has come for a change. Now might be an especially good time, as fresh blood is introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner told Vanity Fair that the franchise is ready to move forward because, as we implied above, the friends/enemies have been the center of attention for too long. The producer added:
We cannot once again explore the Erik/Charles dynamic.
Of course, this doesn't mean that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender won't appear in future movies, especially since Professor X has already been confirmed for the next installment of the core X-Men franchise.
And considering that Deadpool 2 is coming next; Gambit is still in production; and projects such as New Mutants and Supernova are on the horizon, it appears that a change really is taking place. And this is for the better. Of course, maybe the X-Men: Apocalypse finale, in which Magneto inexplicably redeems himself, should be addressed. Other than that, there are a host of other comic book mutants who could be the new focus.
Who knows? Maybe with Sinister's arrival, the X-Men movies will switch their focus to the Summers family"¦
