Wonder Woman's Love Interest

While Wonder Woman is still 2 years away from being released, these two years will pass sooner than realized - but we still don't know anything about the movie, except for the main star (Gal Gadot) and the director (Patty Jenkins of Monster).

Still, there are quite a few rumors, one more believable than the other. And this next one concerns Wonder Woman's love interest - not the new 52 one, but one from the past. And, according to Variety, an actor has been already found.

Thus, according to Variety, Chris Pine (Star Trek) is close to signing the deal in order to portray Steve Trevor, the long love of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. Reportedly, he will appear in the first solo film of the Princess of the Amazons, a film which will also serve as an origin story for her.

In the comics, Steve Trevor is an officer that crashes onto Themyscira during WWII. Diana Prince nurses him and takes care of his injuries, falling in love with him in the process. She follows him into the world of men, where she becomes his partner and Wonder Woman.

The other rumors

Scott Eastwood was also rumored for the part of Steve Trevor when he was cast in Suicide Squad, which made no sense whatsoever, taking into consideration the fact that he was also set to be Wonder Woman's love interest.

Why didn't it make sense?

Because another rumor said that the first solo outing of the Amazons' Princess will be set during WWII and even before that, mainly on Themyscira (during some sort of Civil War between two factions of Amazons) - which meant that Steve Trevor would have been more than 90 years old by the time Suicide Squad happened.

It will be interesting to see how this whole story will unfold, especially since (apparently) the DC Movie Universe takes its cues from the new 52.

Also, there is one more thing: hopefully, DC and Warner Bros won't follow the same path described by Marvel with Steve Rogers's Peggy Carter.
