It's been rumored for some time, but Karen Gillan has finally confirmed that Nebula, her character from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, will indeed show up in the Russo Brothers' Avengers: Infinity War!
In James Gunn's 2014 superhero blockbuster, Nebula was introduced as an antagonist. But from what we've seen and heard so far, it looks like the spacefaring superhero team will somehow manage to turn her into an ally, and even make her a part of the team, in the upcoming sequel.
Taking that into consideration – along with the fact that Karen Gillan's character is an adopted daughter of Josh Brolin's Thanos (the big baddie of Avengers: Infinity War), along with Zoe Saldana's Gamora - many have been speculating about her appearance in next year's superhero extravaganza. There should be no doubt about it now, as Gillan confirmed it in an interview with the BBC:
So look out for those [The Circle, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Jumanji (the 29-year-old’s 2017 movies)]. And then I’ll be making a little appearance in the next Avengers movies.
Since Karen Gillan referred to the "next Avengers movies", we should not only expect her character to return in the May 4, 2018 release, but also in its untitled sequel, which is scheduled to hit the theaters on May 3, 2019. But we should also remember that she said "a little appearance" - so we shouldn't expect a major contribution from Nebula in either Avengers: Infinity War or the untitled fourth Avengers installment.
A report that surfaced online earlier this month suggested that the Russo Brothers will shoot at different locations in Scotland. When the interviewer mentions this, the Scottish actress responds as if she has no idea about its authenticity, but she hopes that it's true! "What are the chances of that?" she laughs.
