Two More Actors Joining Spider-Man: Homecoming!

Spider-Man: Homecoming adds two more actors!

Spider-Man: Homecoming has been on a casting tear for the past few weeks, in preparation for the start of filming this month. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have already added no less than ten names to the Jon Watts flick's cast roster. And now, they have two more to add!

One of those two actors is Logan Marshall-Green. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 39-year-old actor is in talks to portray a villainous character in Spider-Man: Homecoming. His character would be "an evildoer alongsideMichael Keaton's lead villain, who is most likely The Vulture.

The other actor to join the July 7, 2017 release is Martin Starr. Deadline confirms the 33-year-old actor's casting. However, the name of Starr's Spider-Man: Homecoming character, or any details about whether he is playing a villain or an ally, are yet to be disclosed.

Logan Marshall-Green is best known for his roles in small screen ventures like Traveler, 24, The O.C., and Dark Blue. Among his big screen credits, Ridley Scott's Prometheus and the 2015 horror thriller The Invitation figure most prominently.

Martin Starr has featured in movies like Knocked Up, Cheats, and Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead. But he is better known for his appearances in comedy shows that include Freaks and Geeks, Party Down, and Silicon Valley.

Apart from the two casting updates, there's a clarification from Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts. When Michael Barbieri joined the movie, Comic Book suggested that his character would be an original one, but based on Ganke, a Korean American character in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.

That made a lot of fans angry, since it felt like the whitewashing of yet another Asian character. The heat was already out there, generated by Scarlett Johansson‘s Ghost in the Shell and Tilda Swinton’s Doctor Strange casting.

But according to Watts, Barbieri's character in Spider-Man: Homecoming is not Ganke, nor is he based on Ganke. The director tweets:
