Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has seen the airing of its mid-season finale - and it went out with a bang! There were Easter-Eggs all over the place, but the most important one was that the character Skye from the series is indeed the character Daisy Johnson (or Quake) from the comic books. And this, in turn, revealed something even more extraordinary - that the Inhumans have already appeared, way before they will be seen on the silver screen (in 2018).
A secret society, the Inhumans are a result of genetic experiments conducted by the Kree on the first humans. The aliens made those experiments since they were not evolving any longer and since they saw the potential the humans represented.
How does that work in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
It works perfectly, since the show respected the comic book origins by showing the terrigenesis process and the mist. Furthermore, it is the first time when the series, with its presentation of the Inhumans, leaps forward before the movies.
The crystals are the ones that will bring the age of miracles, as Baron von Strucker announced in the ending of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
So, in a way, the series also explains how Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (who were seen in the same ending and who will appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron) got their powers.
