The Tick Reboot – Darker and More Grounded!

Back in 2001, Fox canceled the first live-action series featuring The Tick after airing just nine episodes. Today, with so many superhero shows streaming on different networks, one might be concerned about the revival's life span. While speaking to EW, Joe Lewis, head of comedy at Amazon Studios, does admit that "the superhero landscape is crowded" but also believes that we have seen "nothing like The Tick" over the last two decades. According to Joe:

I feel like it has found this unique place where it's long existed as a satire, and I thought that we had the possibility here to do something really different "” something that's filled with satire but also true to action comedies and superhero comedies.

Ben Edlund, who created the character in 1986 and served as the executive producer of the short-lived 2001 series, is returning for The Tick reboot. And he promises a darker and more grounded tone for the latest venture. He says:

We've got this show about superheroes [where] we get to have fun with the idea of superheroes by starting with kind of a comedic parody of [an] event-oriented-like universe. It will be darker and more grounded. And it's going to have a real story, a real hero's myth.
