If you felt disappointed by how Prometheus was and you believe that Ridley Scott's plans for the sequel will further bury the Alien franchise in mediocrity, then you will find this to be kind of a good news - an established young director actually had in mind making an Alien sequel, starring the one and only Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn.
And this director is none other than Neill Blomkamp, who surprised everybody with his District 9 in 2009. As he said, he was only having fun by making this exquisite artwork and didn't even inform the studio about his intentions of making an Alien sequel.
Didn't Michael Biehn's Alien 2 character die?
Actually, Cpl. Dwayne Hicks was indeed killed off-screen after Aliens and before Alien 3. However, the third film (1992) was very poorly received by the fans and the critics - so it appears that Neill Blomkamp had in mind, in a way, the erasing of that story and the continuation of James Cameron's epic sequel.
But did he really have this in mind? Did Neill Blomkamp actually want to enter the Alien universe? It appears so, if we are looking at the taglines with which he uploaded the pictures. So check them out below - and excuse the director's French. After all, who wouldn't be excited about presenting such awesome Alien concept art to the fans?
Any chances?
While Neill Blomkamp says that he won't work on these artworks any longer, this doesn't necessarily mean that an Alien project is out of the question - even if Ridley Scott is still on-board for the Prometheus sequel.
As it was seen with the same studio before, Deadpool was also scrapped until Fox released the Comic Con preview (which can be seen below). And when the studio saw the fans' reaction, the execs immediately planned the movie (which will be released on the 12th of February 2016). So, in a way, there are still chances"¦
