According to recent reports, the next WandaVision spinoff film from Marvel Studios known as Agatha: Coven of Chaos has settled on a working title that is directly derived from The Wizard of Oz.
According to The Cosmic Circus, the movie “My Pretty” will serve as the working title for the production of “Coven of Chaos.” This title is derived from a memorable quote spoken by Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West in the film The Wizard of Oz, which was released in 1939. Since Agatha and the other members of her coven are witches, it is only natural that the title would make a reference to one of the most well-known witches in popular culture. The upcoming series that will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in which Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as the infamous antagonist Agatha Harkness was originally going to be titled Agatha: House of Harkness when it was announced in 2018, but in July 2022, it was changed to its current title, which is Coven of Chaos.
It is not a new practice for Marvel Studios to give their prospective films and television shows cryptic working titles. Once production on the forthcoming projects begins, which is anticipated to occur for Coven of Chaos in January 2023, the studio will frequently utilize them for those projects. Recent examples of this include the planned reboot of Blade, which has been given the working moniker “Perfect Imprints,” and Secret Invasion, which has been given the working title “Jambalaya.”
Agatha Now and Forever
Agatha made her first appearance on WandaVision as Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettanynosy )’s neighbor “Agnes.” Eventually, it was discovered that Agatha was the actual antagonist of the show. During this reveal, the show played “Agatha All Along,” a fan-favorite song sung by Hahn and written by the songwriting combo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Hahn sang the song, while Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez were the songwriters. The performance of the song was later recognized with a number of awards, including a victory for an Emmy and a nomination for a Grammy.
After receiving her first Emmy nomination in 2017 for her work in the show Transparent, Hahn’s performance on the show WandaVision earned her widespread recognition and earned the actor a second nomination for the prestigious award. In December of 2021, Hahn discussed her choice to reprise her role as Agatha in the television show Coven of Chaos. “There is something that does feel so badass to be playing like, you know, we think of a witch, and you think of, immediately, you think of a woman who is loud, who is mysterious, who is dangerous because she is complicated and she is misunderstood,” Hahn said at the time. “There is something that does feel so badass to be playing like, you know, we think of a witch, and you think of, immediately, you think of a woman “As a performer, all of that information turns me on because it allows me to investigate this person’s background a little bit more. I cannot contain my excitement.”
