The X-Men TV Series Legion Casts Its Female Lead

The X-Men Universe will soon expand on the small screen, as we learned last October. A story that will introduce David Haller, based on the Marvel comics character Legion is in works. The creator and writer of FargoNoah Hawley will be at the helm of the production, currently scheduled for a pilot, so we expect something to make us want more.

"His adaption of "˜Fargo' for television was one of the most acclaimed television events in recent memory. It's also an honor to partner with Marvel on "˜Legion' and to enlist such an accomplished team of executive producers to create this pilot," co-president of FX said.

Legion will tell the story of David Haller, struggling with what he thinks it’s mental illness. He goes in and out the psych hospital and the experience with a patient makes him believe that his visions are actually real, and not symptoms of schizophrenia. In the comics, David Haller is the son of Professor Charles Xavier. The upcoming TV series highlights a link between them, as Professor’s X abilities are of the mental variety, but it wasn’t confirmed that Haller will be his son in Legion.

The Female Lead in Legion is a Fargo Fan Favorite

We have no information about who’s going to play the role of David Haller, but Legion has cast its female lead. Fargo star and fan favorite Rachel Keller will play the role of “a scrappy, optimistic woman in her 20s.” (Deadline). There are not many details about her character. She supposedly has human touch related abilities, and that takes us to Rogue, a longtime X-Men member, yet it’s just a supposition.

In Fargo, Keller’s role as Simone Gerhardt has brought the actress into the limelight, and she became a favorite of the audience. Casting her in Legion is a smart move for sure, and chances that Hawley will make a great pilot are high, at least we hope so.

Marvel and Fox will collaborate on two non-MCU shows – Hellfire and Legion – that will air on Fox (Hellfire) and FX (Legion).
