The first trailer for The Defenders left us wanting more. Besides the action (including a fight in a corridor) and the quips, it gave us our first look at Sigourney Weaver as the flick’s main antagonist, Alexandra. With all of her criminal activities in New York, she certainly appeared to have her hands full. It’s possible that she’s behind Elektra and The Hand, although we have no idea what that might mean.
During an interview with TV Guide, Mike Colter revealed that, although it may not appear so at first, The Defenders series is connected with all of the individual stories told so far. The actor explained that everything that has happened to each Defender so far can be traced to one entity that could end up facing The Defenders’ combined powers.
Of course, Alexandra is extremely well-connected. But does that mean that she also has powers and abilities of her own? If so, she must be even more powerful than we previously thought.
Here’s what Mike Colter said:
The villains that we're dealing with are a combination of several entities, and they all have something to do with our separate stories that have played out in each of our own individual series. So this has been going on for a while. It wasn't obvious in each individual series, but in this series you'll find out that the things that happened to all of us were basically all because of one entity, and that's what's gonna kind of tie things together. And then we'll see that, we'll understand that, and before you know it, eventually we'll fight together or not.
