Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, aka Winter Soldier, is the key reason why Steve Rogers stands against the government in Captain America: Civil War - that's made clear by the first trailer. And thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now have some new tidbits on Winter Soldier and Civil War shared by the actor himself!
Stan reveals that the third installment of the Captain America series starts off from where it left at the end of the second installment. Civil War doesn't start exactly at the museum of the post-credit scenes of the second Captain America movie. But, it's around that period. According to the actor, we find the character at a position where he is making "˜significant and terrifying discoveries about himself and his past'.
That is what makes him "˜A NEW CHARACTER'! He's neither the one we saw in The First Avenger nor that of The Winter Soldier. Stan explains:
"To me, he's never really going to be Bucky Barnes again. There's going be recognizable things about him, but his path through the [experiences of] Winter Soldier is always going be there, haunting him."
He added that it seems to him that he has been playing "˜three people' in three Captain America installments. This is one of his "˜greatest joys' in playing Winter Soldier.
Stan went on to add that even though his character gets to know about his past, the emotions don't return straightaway. He clarified:
"It's not like he immediately has all these emotions and feelings and point of views about people and families that he's dealt with "” or Steve. The knowledge is there, but the emotions aren't explored yet"¦"
Cap Protecting Winter Solider - Instincts over Orders!
Sebastian Stan not only talked about his character, but also about his character's best buddy. According to him, Civil War offers "˜another side' of Chris Evans' character. Here's what he said:
"After so many years of being loyal and morally impenetrable and always doing the right thing that he wouldn't somehow at some point go, "Man, like, what am I fighting for? What's my life? What am I living for?" I think this movie very much tackles those questions for Steve Rogers."
Stan doesn't think these questions pop up just now in Cap's mind. He thinks that he's been questioning things for a long while. He added:
"This is where he's deciding to follow his instincts and not what people tell him is right or wrong."
So, that's how it STARTS! The MEMORIES, the BROMANCE – that turns SUPER SOLDIER into REBEL!
Civil War Fighting is Grounded, Brutal & Very Physical!
The Winter Soldier cast termed Civil War filming experience as "˜so much fun' as well as "˜nerve-wrecking'! And he also claimed that the movie's action sequences are different from his previous experiences in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He remarked:
"The fighting is just very grounded. It's brutal. It's very physical. I kind of feel like I'm really learning how to fight, to be honest!"
