After appearing in Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones, Luke Cage is now showing up in a recently released Netflix series that focuses on the bulletproof character. Fans were eagerly waiting for Luke Cage Season 1, and the time has come.
Mike Colter, the actor who plays the role of Luke Cage, talked to Harper Bazaar and gave out some interesting details about the show. Colter talked about the elements that intertwine and what to expect from the show:
I think how complex the storyline can be and how weird and also funny and humorous. The show doesn’t take itself too seriously. There are moments of high drama, but at the same time, it’s an entertainment vehicle. But I think staying true to some of the stuff that makes Marvel unique is what we did well.
If you’re wondering where critical moments pop up during the series, the actor said it’s going to be Episodes 5 and 13:
There are two moments or speeches where Luke has to make a very, very impressionable mark on the audience. I think they summarize who Luke is as a character.
He was also asked why Luke Cage chose Harlem after the happenings in Jessica Jones. His explanation:
Well, it’s an express ride on the A train away, it’s not far. Ultimately he has roots and he has a confidante, a family friend from his wife who he’s comfortable with, who he knows will keep his secret, who he can trust, and also help him get back on his feet. When we’re at our lowest we rely on family, and Luke doesn’t have much family, so he finds the only family member he’s close to.
The actor has also revealed that his mom doesn’t know who Luke Cage is. You can read the whole interview here.
