New set photos from Marvel's The Defenders reveal that Uta Briesewitz is directing an episode and Stan Lee will appear in photograph form in the series.
The new photos, which surfaced online, offer a new look at Sigourney Weaver's big baddie, Alexandra. Check them out at Getty Images, as they are copyrighted.
Reddit user Spiderbyte noted that one of these images features a clapperboard that re-confirms that the crossover miniseries is filming under the working title Group Therapy.
The clapperboard also reveals that Uta Briesewitz was directing Weaver’s scenes for the fifth episode of The Defenders. Marvel did announce that the first two episodes are being directed by S. J. Clarkson, but refrained from disclosing who was directing the remaining episodes.
Briesewitz, who is recognized more as a cinematographer rather than as a director, is no stranger to working with Marvel. She helmed the eleventh episode of Marvel's Jessica Jones. She’s also directed episodes of Orange Is the New Black, UnREAL, The 100, Agent X, and Fearing the Walking Dead.
Another Reddit user, gurman169, spotted a photo from The Defenders set that shows a gleeful Krysten Ritter in her Jessica Jones outfit, standing in front of a promotional poster for the New York Police Department. Interestingly, the man in the poster is none other than Stan “The Man” Lee!
This shouldn't be surprising, considering that each of the Marvel-Netflix ventures launched so far have acknowledged the Marvel Comics legend in similar fashion. After all, we shouldn't expect the 94-year-old Lee to film scenes for so many Marvel projects - no matter how youthful he appears to be!
