Production for Marvel's Inhumans television show is scheduled to begin in the next few days, so its cast roster is rapidly growing. Three members of the Inhumans Royal Family have been confirmed, and now they've revealed who will take on the key role of Karnak.
Marvel has officially announced that Ken Leung, best known as a series regular on ABC's Lost (Miles Straume) and NBC's The Night Shift (Topher Zia), will play Karnak. You may also recognize him for his big-screen roles, which include Detective Steven Sing in Saw; Kid Omega in X-Men: The Last Stand; and Admiral Statura in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In a statement, Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb had this to say about adding Leung to the roster:
Ken brings both a wisdom and a power to the role that no one else could match. His Karnak will be awesome.
Showrunner Scott Buck on casting Leung:
Ken Leung has a great natural intelligence that reads clearly and will add depth and complexity to the very complicated character of Karnak.
So far, the cast list includes Leung, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus the Mad. A few key roles, including Crystal, Gorgon, and Triton still need to be filled – unless, of course, the characters aren't written into the series.
As for Karnak, here's Marvel’s character description:
Karnak is Black Bolt's cousin and closest advisor. His gift is an ability to see the fault in all things - people, plans, structures, everything. He's Black Bolt's most ardent supporter and strategist, and is often seen as the royal family's planner and philosopher.
