Luke Cage Season 2: Lucy Liu Directing Premiere!

Marvel confirms Lucy Liu as Luke Cage Season 2 premiere director!

Cameras have been rolling for Luke Cage Season 2 for some time, but Marvel has just officially announced that Lucy Liu is directing the premiere episode of the sophomore season of Power Man's standalone series.

Liu is recognized for her roles in movies that include Charlie's Angels and Kill Bill, and television shows such as ElementaryAlly McBeal, and Southland, but she’s recently spent time behind the camera, as well. After making her directorial debut with the short film Meena, she directed four episodes of CBS’ Elementary and the tenth episode of the USA Network’s Graceland Season 3.

We've been speculating about Liu’s involvement with Luke Cage for a few weeks. Early in June, a coffee shop near the show's set shared a photos of the 48-year-old star, one of which featured Liu with star Mike Colter. She was also spotted in a set video, but it wasn’t clear whether she was acting or directing. You can check out the photos and the video below!

Marvel’s announcement was accompanied by this statement from Liu:

What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters. It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.

Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb, who is also a Luke Cage executive producer, added:

When you're dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director. Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors.  She is rocking Luke Cage 2.
