9. The villains in the show will have a compound structure

Kilgrave was a unique villain, different from what we usually see. David Tennant’s performance was top notch, but seeing the same thing twice would diminish its value.

Asked about antagonists for Season Two, Rosenberg replied that there will be more, but different from Kilgrave:

Or antagonists, plural. No one is ever going to beat David Tennant as Kilgrave, so you don’t do that. The biggest mistake would be to try to repeat that. You just go, “OK, we’re not doing that, so we have this open to us.”

Rosenberg talks about more villains, but not regular ones; they have to really challenge Jessica:

I’m never going to be interested in, oh, a bad guy here to take over the city. She’d be like, “As long as I can pay my rent, I’m cool.” You have to build something that reaches into her, reaches into her psyche and twists it around.
