While the first season of Jessica Jones exceeded all expectations, some say that it could have been better and it could have benefited from a stronger supporting cast. The highlight was obviously and – like the first season of Daredevil - the villain, Kilgrave, portrayed by David Tennant. So there was no surprise when the second season was announced.
To date, there has been no word as to when Jessica Jones' second season will be released. However, star Krysten Ritter revealed something which may be highly important for the Netflix corner of the MCU.
During a recent interview with Digital Spy, the Jessica Jones actress revealed that the second season of the series will be shot back to back with the crossover The Defenders. And this may reveal something - the events depicted during the second season will lead straight into the Defenders.
Of course, this is just an assumption. However, the actress did say that Jessica Jones now has a different reason for waking up every morning. If getting back at Kilgrave was previously her reason, now she does it in order to help the people. And then the actress added, "That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities."
Could there be a bigger hint than that?
The actress also talked about the Luke Cage solo series, which will debut on the 30th of September this year. Will she appear in that series, as Luke Cage appeared in Jessica Jones? Apparently, there will be no such cameo, since the Luke Cage series will deal with this character's backstory. But who knows?
At this moment, it isn't certain when the second season of Jessica Jones will arrive.
But it is safe to say that it will be sometime in the second half of 2017.
