With less than a month remaining before all thirteen episodes of Marvel's Iron Fist arrive, Netflix has released a new featurette for the series.
The video, entitled I Am Danny, provides us with a better idea of what we can expect from the show's plot. Danny Rand, as you may know, left New York City at the age of ten with his parents on a trip to Tibet. However, their plane crashed, and his parents didn't survive. Danny was rescued by the monks of the mystical K'un-Lun. For the next 15 years, they trained him to become a kung fu master and attain the power of the Iron Fist.
Danny, played by Finn Jones, then returned to New York, believing that his childhood friends, Joy and Ward Meachum (Jessica Stroup and Tom Pelphrey) would welcome him with open arms. But he soon realized that the world had changed. The Meachum siblings were running his father's corporation, Rand Enterprises, and they refused to believe that he was Danny.
During his days in K'un-Lun, Danny heard about a mythological dark force in the world, but he didn't believe it was real. The events that took place upon his return to New York City made Danny realize that the force is indeed real and he must fight it.
The video also features a decent amount of new footage from the upcoming Marvel/Netflix venture, including some mesmerizing action sequences and a better look at the tattoo-like "mark of the Iron Fist on Danny's chest". There are some shots of the Meachums; Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing; and Wai Ching Ho's Madame Gao, a character that we first saw in the inaugural season of Marvel's Daredevil.
In addition, some cool dialog and voiceovers are included in the Iron Fist featurette. Check it out below, along with a recently released motion poster:
