The debut teaser trailer for Iron Fist didn't surprise anybody - in the sense that it was top notch, as it happened with all the other Marvel and Netflix shows. We caught a first glimpse of Danny Rand focusing his chi energy; we saw Madame Gao in a brief scene (thus connecting Iron Fist to Daredevil); there was plenty of action (including a corridor fight scene with axes); and there was also the voiceover that teased the plot of the show.
However, even if we assume it will be the case, Madame Gao may not be the main baddie of the first Iron Fist season. And that even if she appeared to focus chi energy in a particular confrontation with Matt Murdock. As a matter of fact, we know nothing about the villain of this new show.
I would have loved to have played Danny but I gave #Marvel everything I have for Zhou. I can’t wait for you guys to see the show. #IronFist

On Twitter, actor Lewis Tan has revealed that he will be one of the baddies of Iron Fist. The actor expressed his disappointment that he didn't grab the lead role of Danny Rand, but also said that he gave his all for the role of Zhou Cheng.
While he is credited to appear in eight of the planned 13 episodes of Iron Fist, he can only be a secondary villain. But this is interesting, since this character is known in the comics to have killed Iron Fists for 70 years. So he is indeed a worthy adversary. Even more interestingly, he works for someone else, hence our assumptions that he is just a secondary villain, a lieutenant to a bigger baddie.
In the comics, Zhou Cheng works for Ch'i-Lin, a mystical beast that actually feasts on the life-force of all those possessing the title of Iron Fist. Could this show be the one to further explore the mystical aspects of the Netflix corner of the MCU, after Daredevil? It may be so.
On the other hand, Zhou Cheng might just be a foot-soldier of Madame Gao"¦
