Last month, Marvel released a photo of a San Diego Comic-Con International bus that bore a promotional banner for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. Its design featured a flaming chain, which led us to speculate whether the series is planning to introduce Ghost Rider in the upcoming season.
Many fans rule out the possibility of an appearance by the popular supernatural anti-hero in the series. Others feel that the bus design isn’t convincing enough, and that Marvel may actually be teasing a bigger role for Hellfire in the upcoming Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season.
However, we have come across a new casting notice (via TV Line) that tends to suggest that Agent Coulson and his team might actually get to encounter Ghost Rider! But it won't be Johnny Blaze, the version Nicolas Cage portrayed in the two big screen ventures!
According to the casting report, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is looking for two actors to portray "a pair of Latino brothers". One of the characters is described as "the most dangerous person in the room"; the other is "paralyzed in a wheelchair".
Those who are familiar with the Marvel NOW! All-New Ghost Rider series will see a close resemblance between these characters and the two Mexican-American characters, Robbie and Gabe Reyes that appear in the series by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore that debuted in March 2014. In that series, Robbie was the one who took on the Ghost Rider mantle.
If this is indeed true, it would obviously be a bit surprising for the fans, considering the fact that Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch are the most popular versions of the Marvel anti-hero.
Marvel Television has already confirmed that an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel will appear at the upcoming SDCC, and that they’ve promised a few surprises to come. So things may be cleared up later this month.
Apart from the casting of the two male characters, the report also suggests that the ABC series is planning to introduce a female Life Model Decoy (LMD) in the upcoming season.
The show is looking for an actress for the recurring role of a "very attractive" robot named Aida. The LMD is described as having the ability to move about quite naturally. She also speaks a bit formally, much like Jarvis in the Iron Man movies.
