Back in November last year, we saw Mike Colter as Luke Cage in Marvel's Jessica Jones. But this year we will get to see him in his own standalone Netflix series - Marvel's Luke Cage. Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple will appear in the series. The character debuted in the first season of Marvel's Daredevil before appearing in the last episode of Jessica Jones. In the latter series, she shared scenes with Mike Colter's character.
Though the events of Luke Cage take place in the same New York City like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the locations for the upcoming series are different from the previous two. So, how does Claire get involved the next time? In a recent interview with IGN, Mile Colter stated:
"Because she plays a nurse that basically seems to be in the right place at the right time, and she’s very good at helping out superheroes who are in need, and I think you will see some of that in Luke Cage."
According to the actor, Rosario Dawson's character is eventually going to be "˜a very good companion' for his character. And he thinks that she is someone who Luke Cage "˜needs in his life at this time'. According to Colter:
"She’s going to serve a very significant part of the Luke Cage story. Not overwhelmingly so, but you will definitely be satisfied with the amount of screen time you see."
In how many episodes does Claire Temple appear? He won't say that! But he added:
"She’s definitely going to be someone that’s going to have a large storyline and help out a lot."
Luke Cage's Relationship with Claire Temple and Jessica Jones
Rosario Dawson's character was introduced in the comics as the love interest of Luke Cage back in early 1970s. But in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we have seen a romantic involvement between Mike Colter's character and Jessica Jones. But again, after he came to know that Jessica killed his wife, we saw a fracture develop between the two and they haven't fully recovered it yet.
So, how does Luke Cage's relationship with the two female characters play out in the upcoming series? Mike explained:
"With Jessica, it was one of those things that when you meet it’s lustful. I think with Jessica, there’s so much chemistry there that we still need to find out are we compatible, and that’s the part that’s going to be interesting. As far as Claire is concerned, we have to wait and see how that relationship evolves. Comparatively speaking, we know Jessica has killed my wife, and so we have to get through that."
