It was recently confirmed that Supergirl Season 2 will feature Superman. While the Man of Steel appeared in the first season, we never got to see his face. We saw him either from the back or at certain angles so his head wasn’t in the frame. But in Supergirl Season 2, there will be an actor portraying Kal-El. And the latest update is that they found that actor!
Comic Book confirms that Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin has joined Supergirl Season 2 as Superman! As announced previously, the 28-year-old actor will don the red cape for the first two episodes of the season. Here's what Andrew Kreisberg, one of the executive producers, has to say about casting Hoechlin:
Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly, because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.
Tyler Hoechlin kicked off his acting career in the late 1990s. His first prominent role was as the son of Tom Hanks' character in the 2002 flick Road to Perdition. Tyler is also known for playing Martin Brewer, the main character in the family drama series 7th Heaven.
Some fans may not be so happy with the casting announcement. Since it was confirmed that they were looking for an actor to play Superman in Supergirl Season 2, a huge number of fans were hoping that Tom Welling would win the role, because they loved his portrayal of Clark Kent in Smallville. We’re unsure whether Supergirl’s makers even considered him for the role.
