Katie Cassidy, the actress who plays Laurel Lance in Arrow, will guest star in an upcoming episode of The Flash Season 2. That might not seem to be a big surprise because such mini-crossovers happen every now and then in the Arrowverse. But it’s still very interesting because she won’t be playing the attorney-turned-masked vigilante Black Canary!
Katie will, instead, arrive to The Flash Season 2 to portray Earth-2 version of Laurel! Here’s what Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim states at a recent press screening (via Entertainment Weekly):
You will see her on an episode of The Flash playing the Earth-2 version of Laurel Lance.
The EP went on to reveal that Laurel’s Earth-2 doppelganger goes by the name Black Siren.
And The Flash Season 2 isn’t the only show where Katie Cassidy will guest star. The 29-year-old actress will also lend her voice in the second season of the animated CW Seed series Vixen, which also belongs to the Arrowverse.
Will Black Siren be a hero or a villain in The Flash Season 2?

Donna Nance, aka Black Siren, was introduced back in 2002 in the animated series Justice League. She was a crime-fighter and the sole female member of the Justice Guild of America. The character is based on the Golden Age version of Black Canary and it existed in a virtual-reality city on a parallel Earth.
So, if The Flash Season 2 stays true to the source, Black Siren will be a superhero in the series. But most of the Earth 2 doppelgangers have exhibited a darker side… for example, Caitlin Snow is Killer Frost on Earth 2, Ronnie Raymond is Deathstorm and Cisco Ramon is Reverb. So, if they follow the same route for Laurel Lance’s Earth 2 doppelganger, this Black Siren would turn out to be a supervillain.
