Daredevil – What Should Happen in the Second Season

Awesome Daredevil Art

The first season of Daredevil kicked major butt - both from the action point of view and the one of the storyline. It actually felt like one big movie, one giant 12 hours or so long movie.

So what can we expect from the second season, which will be released sometime in April next year? Well, here are our top choices!

Bigger and more obvious connections with the MCU

Daredevil - there's the Avengers tower
Daredevil – there’s the Avengers tower

Of course, the first season of Daredevil did include quite a few references to the MCU, one seen even in the trailers - with the big Avengers tower in the background. Also, by the time the second season will be released, we will probably see even more of these connections, with Jessica Jones scheduled for release on the 20th of November, Iron Fist sometime later this year, and Luke Cage most likely before the release of Daredevil's second season.

So what kinds of connections are we talking about? How about expanding on the whole martial arts mysticism we saw with Stick, which could lead to a Doctor Strange connection? Or how about giving the Punisher a bigger role, which could be expanded into the actual MCU?

On the next page, the villain returns!

The Kingpin Mastermind

The first Daredevil season had, probably, the best villain we have seen coming from Marvel - so what if it was on the smaller screens? Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk was one of the best things in an already awesome series.

Of course, Fisk is now caged, so to speak, after being defeated by Daredevil himself. However, we can see him being the mastermind to all the new threats the superhero could face. Being imprisoned shouldn't just actually stop him from ruling Hell's Kitchen from the shadows.

We can actually see him as a sorts of Hannibal Lecter and we are certain that D'Onofrio can do justice to the character once again.

On the next page, the ninjas and the mysticism!

Ninjas and mysticism

Learning from Stick
Learning from Stick

As said, if Daredevil's second season explores more of this, it could bring some connection to the larger MCU. However, besides that, how awesome would it be to actually explore this side of the story? We've had confrontations between the agents of The Hand and The Chaste. But we do want some more of this.

The first season of Daredevil just scratched the surface as far as these warring ninja clans are concerned. And we'd like to know more about the connections between Murdock, Fisk, Stick, Gao and the others.

Plus, Iron Fist could pick up the story from this kind of foundation"¦

On the next page, doing a character justice!

A better Elektra

Elodie Yung in GI Joe
Elodie Yung in GI Joe

We've seen Elektra on the big screens and it was one of the worst superhero flicks ever. Now we want justice for her - and the gritty and realistic Daredevil series is the right place she should receive it. The fact that Elodie Yung (District 13, GI Joe: Retaliation) actually has a background in action movies does give us hope"¦

So the second Daredevil season shouldn't just give us awesome Elektra action. It should also capture the complex relationship between Murdock and Elektra, as well as the complexity of the anti-heroine herself.

On the next page, what could be the highlight!

A clash of ideologies

The Punisher
The Punisher

The second season of Daredevil will also introduce the Punisher, a character we've been waiting for so long - sure, we've had 3 big screen movie about him, but none of them rose to the expectations. Now that Jon Bernthal will become Frank Castle we actually have a shot of seeing the real vigilante, the one that would not stop from anything when it comes to punishing the criminals.

And while this is the perfect premise for having some more gritty action, what we are interested in is the clash of ideologies. Both of the characters (Daredevil and Punisher) come from about the same background, after having lost someone important to them. However, it is how they deal with criminals which separates them.

While Daredevil still believes that the law can right everything when helped, Punisher knows that the law is completely broken - thus, he is judge, jury and executioner for any criminal he is after.

On the next page, it isn’t Jason Statham!

Bullseye for Daredevil!

There's the Bullseye!
There’s the Bullseye!

There was a rumor, a while ago, that Jason Statham will portray Bullseye in the second season of Daredevil. The actor completely shot the rumor down.

But still – what if we get a proper Bullseye now? With an actor who can actually fight? Elektra shouldn’t be the only one getting this treatment…
